Found!! Someone who will not be blackmailed. Hootie Johnson, Augusta National
Golf Club Chairman, has yelled "Fore" to Martha Burk and the National
Council of Women’s Organizations (NCWO), which she heads.
Drive on, Hootie! Bravo to someone who will not be blackmailed by "political
correctness", dollar signs, or intimidation. It’s about time!!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution whines, "Chairman’s stubbornness
hurting Augusta, Masters". Of course, it will! You will see to it!
You will do everything in your power to shape and mold public opinion to
your "standards".
And what are those "standards"? They are what "The New York
Times", "The Washington Post", "Time" magazine,
and the big three networks dictate them to be. They are what Hollywood prima
donnas, the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons, and the jocks idolized by ESPN
and "Sports Illustrated" dictate them to be.
And damned be anyone who violates the "standards". Sadly, in the
end, CBS will probably "cave", too. There is a lot at stake for
them. Boycotts. Loss of advertising. Public disiaffection of the media.
But drive on, Hootie. Hold out as long as you can. There are a lot of us
out here, the (unfortunately) "silent minority" who affirm that
this is still a country of freedom….not only of association, but also
"DISSOCIATION". Freedom to avoid you if you are white, or black,
or male, or female, or heterosexual, or homosexual……what have
I left out?…..if I so choose.
