LOOKS LIKE A "SONNY" DAY FOR GEORGIA!

Subject: Re: Sonny and the flag

A response to "Hog" Wilder's comments.

Before I begin I would just like to say that, Hog Wilder's writings appear to be those of someone else. Maybe it's a pen name, or just a plain old fake id. Who knows?

Anyhow, assuming that there really is a "Hog" Wilder who is, or claims to be a libertarian, and who, like most libertarians thinks
he knows just about everything about everthing, I would just like to comment on his comments about governor elect, former democrat Sonny Perdue (R-Bonaire), the flag change and the impact it has had, or will have on education and the economy in the great "Fergit Hell" State of Georgia.

As to Sonny Perdue and the flag change: He has yet to promise anything other than to consider the actions of the Georgia legislature regarding the flag issue. From the Augusta Chronicle, quoting Perdue spokesman Dan McLagan (don't know the date): "If lawmakers, in their wisdom, decide a non-binding statewide vote would help them make the right flag decision, Perdue would likely support it, just as he promised. But he would not himself recommend such a referendum." Remember the rat video? What was Sonny Perdue trying to tell us with that? Was that a promise in disguise, or was he just leading the Flag Wavers on?

Now we know that Georgia's economy was not doing the best in the world before the flag change; and we know that Georgia ranked 49th in the nation in education before education reform and the flag change; and we know that since education reform and the flag change, Georgia has gone from 49th to 50th in the nation in education. That's dead last for anyone who has to use a calculator to subtract 49 from 50. Using "Hog" Wilder's logic, that doesn't bode well for us.

The state's economy has gotten worse, or at least has not improved significanlty. We also know that those who run the businesses in Georgia and who might be thinking of moving their business here (or from here) are watching those SAT scores -- not which flag is waving -- and the high school and college dropout rate because our students can't maintain at least a 'B' average in order to stay in college under the Hope Scholarship program. Again, using "Hog" Wilder's logic, that doesn't bode well for us.

Now, my suggestion to Governor Elect Perdue is that he should bring the flag issue to a speedy resolve, remembering the divisive" 'secret' deal that was made by 'outgoing' Governor Barnes and anti-American Jesse Jackson and other outside special interest groups to change our flag in violation of Governor Barnes and the Democrats "light of day" law that prohibits such action. He should also remember that those same "Fergit Hell" flag wavers (the ajc and libertarian Neal Boortz prefer flaggers") that got rid of "Rat" Roy Barnes will be there in four years to get rid of him also.... And you can depend on it!

And there's also the economy, redistricting and a bunch of other stuff that Barnes and the democrats did that needs undoing. It does, indeed look like a "Sonny day" for Georgia. Sonny do this and Sonny do that.

Well, that's my opinion in rebuttal to your opinion, Mr. "Hog" Wilder, or whoever you are, and I welcome yours.... again, and again, and again.

And to the editor: please don't edit my opinion, dagnabbit!

(ED. note: Mr. Gravitt is Chairman of the Republican Party of Franklin County. In deference to our friendship and his position, we will not edit his LONG opinion THIS time; however, we would remind Mr. Gravitt that we reserve the right, as editor, to edit ANYONE, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or libertine.

We are reminded of the fellow, responding to a dunning letter, that he dropped all his bills into a hat at the end of each month, then drew them out and paid them til the money ran out. "If you don't stop dunning me", he threatened, "I'll stop putting your bill in the hat."

We reserve the right to do that, too, but we haven't yet, and hope not to.

Neganews welcomes the opinions of the Wilders, the Gravitts, and anyone else, when they are worthy. Mr. Gravitt's rebuttal is timely, and appropriate....though a bit long..)
